Summary: Mint is hanging around her shop in summer, thinking about the walls. There's something wrong with the way she built them; it gets far too humid inside, so she had to take off the door and window. For some reason, it's really frustrating. They finally look okay, but they're just not right...
A pair of customers comes in and hangs around for a while, chatting at first and then simply gazing out the window as the day begins to grow dark and it starts to rain. Mint watches them in silence, a strangely pensive atmosphere descending over the shop.
After the couple leaves she cleans up after them and then resumes staring out at the rain, subdued and thoughtful. She thinks about the boards that she used to build the walls, and how she had salvaged them from other abandoned houses. She wonders if the boards remember their old lives and thinks that the damp wood doesn't smell right; it doesn't smell like her home. The disquieted, frustrated feeling returns.
She sits and stares out the window as the rain grows heavier. She considers turning on the light, but decides against it. A thought surfaces suddenly, a single moment from so long ago...
Standing in the doorway, cheerfully waving to someone as they leave. Someone more important than anything.
'If it were now...would I still just say "have a nice trip" and wave goodbye?'
Reaction(s):
-Apparently I built the shop? By myself???
-Hmmm...
-For some reason this is a very melancholy memory
-Who was the important person who left? And...
-Why did I just smile and let them go...?
