Summary: While driving around on an abandoned stretch of highway, Mint comes upon a man sitting on the railing by a sea cliff, accompanied by a bizarre flying creature. She's so awed by the scene that she almost gives the man a heart attack and the creature flies away, but the man reassures her that it'll return in a minute, which it does. (After all, they're friends, sort of.)
She admires its flying for a while as they make conversation (the flying thing is a fish, apparently, the man is from the area but hasn't been around in quite a while, he's here today for a special event). Mint giggles at his way of speaking, which reminds her of an old man she knows. After a bit of chatting, she starts to bid him farewell, telling him that she runs a coffee shop to the south, and invites him to stop by if he's ever in the area. He agrees, and she starts to drive away-
When he suddenly seems to remember something, and asks if she knows someone named "Takahiro."
Mint screeches to a stop, sending her scooter and herself toppling over, ow. The man helps her up as she excitedly confirms that yes, she knows Takahiro! He asks her to say hello the next time she sees him, and that the message is from Ayase; or rather, "the guy who saw the Misago." This obviously means something to her, and she remembers that Takahiro had actually mentioned Ayase to her before. She invites him to catch a ride with her back to her place so he can see Takahiro, but he turns her down since he's on his way somewhere else. But he's currently waiting for something, so she decides to wait with him.
Ayase asks her what she knows about airplanes (basically nothing), and says that "a real unusual one" is going to be coming this way. They wait a while longer, until it appears: an absolutely massive, strangely shaped white plane, called "Taapon." It's too high up to hear any noise, and Ayase mentions that there are people on board who can't come down anymore.
They watch until it leaves, and Mint thanks him. This time, he walks away and she stays behind, staring up at the sky for a long time more.
